Statement about privacy and cookies on HASinternational.nl

Privacy legislation - the “cookie act”

As explained below in the official statement that Google Analytics users are required to place on their website, this website uses Google Analytics. This programme provides key statistics about the number of visitors, pages visited, traffic sources and other essential information enabling us to make continual improvements to this website for users. These statistics are anonymous and cannot be traced to a specific person or user. We do not use behavioural targeting, which creates a profile on the basis of your browsing habits. Your surfing behaviour remains completely anonymous.

Google Analytics uses a cookie, which is a small file that is saved on your computer. Google Analytics is covered by one of the exceptions under the new privacy legislation (dating from January 2015) and Analytics cookies can be stored without the user’s prior permission, provided that Analytics is implemented correctly and the requirement to inform website visitors about this is satisfied. The purpose of this page is to provide that information.

Google Analytics privacy settings

Under the Dutch Telecommunications Act adopted in January 2015, Google Analytics is covered by the exceptions because this cookie constitutes “little or no” infringement of privacy. In addition, Google Analytics’ cookie is a “first party cookie”, which means that the file name given to the cookie on your computer includes ‘HASinternational.nl’ and the data are officially the property of HAS University of Applied Sciences and not of Google. This cookie is not used for advertising or other commercial purposes.

In addition to the Telecommunications Act, the Dutch Personal Data Protection Act also applies. The use of Google Analytics is also permitted under this act, provided that it is implemented correctly. This involves satisfying key requirements. A data processing agreement has been entered into between Stichting HAS Opleidingen (the foundation that owns HAS University of Applied Sciences) and Google with respect to the Analytics data. HAS University of Applied Sciences’ Analytics account is set up such that the information may not be shared with others.  The user is clearly informed about the use of Analytics and the option to opt out. The Analytics cookie expires after 6 months.

Opt-out for Google Analytics

If you would prefer to block the Analytics script completely, you can download an opt-out plug-in for Google Analytics here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. With this plug-in your visit will no longer be included in the statistics of all websites using Google Analytics.

Google is only permitted to provide this information to third parties when Google has a statutory obligation to do so or where these third parties process the information on behalf of Google. Google will not connect your IP address with other data held by Google. You can refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser. However, in that case you may not be able to use all the features of this website.
